EARTH
One foot. Then the next. Until the mountain gives.
“At 49, I fell on my face after a 5-minute run. This isn’t a mid-life crisis — it’s a rescue mission.”
Everything I built was a hiding place.
The dread goes back as far as I can remember.
A child who wanted to hide from school. An adult who built a life from inside his own house, calling it a career, calling it freedom. I travelled the world looking for an answer. I just kept hiding in different countries. Anything to avoid being seen.
For decades I outran it with whatever worked that week — substances, dopamine highs, the start of every new relationship. Every source ran out. Every honeymoon ended. And I was always back in the same chair.
An ADHD diagnosis at 45 named some of it. It didn’t fix any of it.
Elemental50 is a 50-week mission. Fifty challenges, physical and psychological, across five elemental blocks — Earth, Water, Air, Ice, Fire — each ending in an apex. Beginning on my 50th birthday. Documented in full. No reshoots. No performance.
Episode one is the first challenge. But the story begins long before that — in the imposter syndrome of even trying, in the doubt of whether any of this will work, in the small fear of every post, every video, every act of being seen at all.
I am doing this to repair a life. To feel seen. To actually live.
I think it can work. Some mornings now, the dread loosens before it lands. That is more than I have had in decades.
This is for everyone still in the dark. Inside lives that look fine from the outside. Watching everyone else’s life happen while their own stays small.
You don’t need to be transformed to start. I am not. I am 49, frightened, and walking forward anyway.
A glimmer of light is all this asks you to feel.
Then the next one.
Then the one after that.
One foot. Then the next. Until the mountain gives.
Breath, pressure, surrender. The deep teaches first.
Let go. Gravity is the teacher either way.
Stillness as discipline. Cold as the teacher.
The hardest element by far. Being seen.
Ten challenges per element. Each block ends in an apex — the five apexes are locked in; everything before them stays sealed until it’s faced. The road is revealed as it’s walked.
Training begins in public — including learning to be seen on camera at all. This site is v1 and will grow in the open. No reshoots applies here too.
Base building, element by element — posted as it happens: the training logs, the doubts, the small wins. From September, one apex is revealed every month.
Raising for ADHD UK and CALM — with all five apexes on the table and day one in sight.
Week one of fifty. Episode one is the first challenge — but you’ll already know the whole story by then.
Because a diagnosis at 45 shouldn’t be the first time your own life makes sense. Supporting awareness and support for adults who found out late — or haven’t yet.

The story doesn’t start at Challenge 01. It’s already started — in training logs, doubts and small wins. One email a fortnight. The unfiltered version.
A confirmation email is on its way — click the link inside and you’re in. That’s the whole ritual.
You don’t need to be transformed to start. Neither do I.
